Business Plan
Outline
This
page contains a complete business plan for
making money with a WebPages. Please review
the entire page and the links it provides to our
other pages. It is meant to be a comprehensive
plan of attack.
Why
write a business plan? In most cases a business
plan is the most important step in launching a
new venture or expanding an existing one. The
kind of business plan we provide is designed to
get you up and running with little investment.
It is designed for people who want to invest
time but little money.
As
a start, you can use the info below as the meat
of a plan, but you will need to tailor it to
your own personal business desires (of course).
Feel free to save this one to your hard drive
and modify it for your own use.
We
modify this plan based on our own experience and
feedback from others. We would really appreciate
feedback from you. Please let us know what
worked for you. Any suggestions for improvements
would also be appreciated. Send them to: webmaster@webpageprofits.com
The
essence of this plan is:
STEP
BY STEP
Step
One: Determine your focus area and business
model. For example, our site focuses on helping
webmasters make money. That mission impacts on
everything we do. The rest of this plan is
supportive of any focus you determine, but only
you can determine what your focus will be. If
you have yet to solidify the precise nature of
your business, you should still press ahead, but
we strongly recommend you at least make some
assumptions on the services you will be
providing before you get down the road too far.
The assumptions can be general for now (assume
you will be marketing affiliate and associate
programs. Assume you will be providing
information of interest and use to a specific
market niche to be determined at a later time).
Determining a focus also means writing down your
goals and describing your products or services.
You should also revisit these goals, objectives
and intentions frequently.
To help select your business model, review
our business model page. We list the key
types of online businesses you will want to
consider.
As part of this first step of determining your
focus, ask yourself what you can do for your
customers. Put yourself into the shoes of your
potential readers. For example, we have found
that the majority of our readers are looking for
free information. Many already know what
"fee" services are out there, but
don't want to sink money into something unless
they have taken maximum use of the
"free" services. So we have tailored
this entire site to providing this kind of
information. We had to devise a unique profit
model to allow us to do that. But by putting our
customer's desires first we have been able to do
quite well.
Step
Two: Establish a web site. You can use a
free page or your can establish your own domain.
Your internet service provider may already give
you free webspace. That is probably the best
option to start out with. For other free
webspace option see our
Free
webpage review page.
Now is a good time to mention that establishing
a website is an iterative process. For example,
if you build a website on a free service you
will probably upgrade later to your own domain.
The same thought applies to every other step
mentioned here. Be ready to revisit and refine
thi s plan and your intentions.
Step Three: Link your webpage to
companies that you have an "associate"
relationship. This is usually easy (all the
associates we recommend provided HTML code that
is easy to copy and paste into your webpage).
To
pick the best associates for your page, visit
our review of
associate
programs. Or visit Commission
Junction (a free service). We are big on
them.
Step
Four:
Provide content to your site that will be of use
to your niche market. Keep it valuable and up to
date so your visitors will keep coming back for
more. If you have a skill, hobby or area of
expertise that you can provide free information
on that is best. However, there are plenty of
commercial businesses that exist just to provide
content. We review several on our
content
page.
One of the most important is the free content
provider
Moreover.com.
Click Here to Visit Moreover's Site
Some content can be ads, but if you take this
route be sure to offer your opinion on why your
readers should pay attention to the ads on your
site.
You can also use free articles as content. See
many on our
Article
and Advice page.
Step Five: Market your site. We have a
more detailed review of marketing tips on our
marketing
page.
Step Six: Keep your content fresh. You
will need to keep adding content to your page.
Never stop this step. If you do, you will become
stagnant and people will stop coming. You should
also ensure your HTML is always working and that
you have no dead links on your pages. As your
site changes you should revisit your meta tags
and page descriptions too.
Step Seven: Provide interactivity. All of
your internet based business should focus on
serving your visitors. One way to do that is to
provide interactivity options. Always ensure an
e-mail address is at the bottom of each page,
and provide message boards, FFL lists and ad
pages that free ads can be placed on. We provide
those services throughout our site, and all the
services we use can be signed up for free for
integration into your pages.
Step
Eight: You should establish your business entity
(although we assume you have already done that).
And, we strongly recommend you select an online
bank. No matter what your business entity
(individual, partnership, company, corporation),
banking online makes sense for e-commerce
companies. We have examined three online banks
(it is always good to check around), including
Of the three, Compubank has received the best
reviews for security and customer focus. They
have our highest recommendation.
That's
it in a nutshell. Remember to keep building
content and keep marketing. Good luck!
